02What NPC status means

A legal form built for public-benefit work.

A non-profit company is incorporated for a public benefit object or an object relating to communal or group interests. Its income and property may not be distributed to members or directors, and on winding-up its net assets must pass to another non-profit with similar objects. This structure places Ubuntu Gale under the governance, record-keeping and annual-filing obligations of the Companies Act, supervised by the CIPC.

Company registration is one part of a responsible non-profit foundation. Separate statuses are administered by other authorities and are only claimed once granted. Until then, Ubuntu Gale does not present itself as holding them, and public donation processing remains disabled.
